7 fun adventures to check off your Summer Bucket List

Summer is halfway over, but there’s still plenty of time to make some memories and check some long-awaited adventures off your Summer Bucket List.

If you don’t have a Summer Bucket List, feel free to use ours! Here are 7 great things to enjoy in the second half of summer, and all are an easy day trip or less from Rancho Sienna.

Take a cool dip. This is an easy one. The Hill Country is blessed with many crystal-clear, spring-fed swimming holes, from manmade Barton Springs Pool in Austin’s Zilker Park, to natural wonders such as Krause Springs. There’s also Hamilton Pool Preserve, Georgetown’s Blue Hole and many more.

Enjoy a scenic drive. It’s hot outside, but you can enjoy some beautiful Hill Country scenery from the air-conditioned comfort of your car. This article maps three of the best Hill Country drives.

Ride a tube. Tubing is a quintessential summer activity in the Hill Country. You can enjoy it along a beautiful river lined with towering cypress trees, or join the happy crowds at the original Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels.

Enjoy sunset at Enchanted Rock. Just 16 miles north of Fredericksburg, Enchanted Rock State Natural Area has cast its spell on human visitors for more than 12,000 years. Find your own enchantment by making the half-mile trek to the top at the end of the day, for an unforgettable sunset.

Sip the Wine Trail. Who needs France or Napa when the Hill Country has its own Wine Trail, with 46 wineries in a scenic and relatively compact area? Guided tours are available, or  uncork your own adventure. (Please enjoy responsibly.)

Savor a Texas peach. The Texas peach season is in full swing by early July, and some varieties continue to ripen through August. Check out this guide to Hill Country peach orchards, and maybe enjoy some authentic Texas BBQ along the way.
