Newest Rancho Sienna park is for the dogs
Opening in summer 2016, the newest park in Rancho Sienna is designed especially for the community’s four-legged residents – although their two-legged companions will also have a fun time.
Located along Big View Trail, the newest trail in Rancho Sienna, the dog park features separate areas for large and small breeds, with secure entry areas for leashing and unleashing. Both the small and large dog areas include open play spaces, along with agility courses featuring tunnels, mounds and other challenges. Water fountains and a dog wash station are also provided.
Dogs and people alike will enjoy the terraced sunrise pavilion and fishing pier alongside the park’s scenic pond.
The dog park is the newest component of a thoughtfully designed outdoor experience at Rancho Sienna, emphasizing a relaxed and nature-focused Hill Country lifestyle amid more than 100 acres of parks, trails and natural open space.
In keeping with the community’s focus on sustainability, the plantings for the dog park were selected for their drought tolerant nature, with a strong emphasis on wildflower mixes that do not require irrigation. The design team also worked to reuse materials found on site, such as cedar and stone, and incorporated excess materials from a nearby drainage project to create the tunnels on the agility course.
With the park’s trailhead for Big View Trail, dogs and their people can head out to explore the entire community, via an approximate 6-mile trail system leading to other dog-friendly amenities such as Greenleaf Park and Sienna Trail Park.
