May & June local events for the whole family
Check out these fun local activities for residents of all ages happening all over the local area! From the annual Pecan Street Festival and Austin Fashion Week in Austin to the annual Pioneer Day in Round Rock, there's much to keep you busy...(descriptions provided below calendars)
Pecan Street Festival - May 6 & 7
The Pecan Street Festival is one of the largest, and longest-running, arts/crafts and music festivals in the nation presented by The Pecan Street Association, a 501(c) 4 nonprofit organization.
West Austin Studio Tour - May 13 & 14, May 20 & 21
Big Medium's West Austin Studio Tour (West) is a free, annual, self-guided art event spanning across two weekends in May. West provides opportunities for the public to meet the local artists and artisans of Austin in their creative spaces.
Austin Fashion Week - May 12 - 21
Going into its 9th year, Austin Fashion Week is the largest fashion event in Texas and one of the most highly acclaimed in the Southern United States.
Republic of Texas Rot Rally - June 8 - 11
Keep Austin Weird Fest & 5K - June 24
The Keep Austin Weird Fest + 5K is the ultimate celebration and toast to Austin—to what it is, to what its becoming and to what it will always be, WEIRD.
Austin Web Fest - June 29 - July 2
Austin WebFest (AWF) is an LLC organization that provides a venue for international film artists to compete against one another in a friendly atmosphere, while showcasing their web series.

Vodka Train - May 6
Dripping Springs Vodka and Greenhouse Craft Food team up to showcase three hand crafted cocktails paired with local comfort food with a little Cinco de Mayo twist! Champion Park - Year-round
Champion Park offers a covered children’s play area with castings of dinosaur bones to discover, a large blue whale that spurts water to cool kids off, and specially designed boulders for climbing. Families can benefit from the large picnic pavilion with built-in grills, fishing areas, and scenic bridge across Brushy Creek.
Lego Minecraft Engineering - June 19 - 23
Bring Minecraft to life using LEGO® bricks! Build a motorized walking Creeper, a terrifying Ghast, and a motorized Minecart! This project-based camp combines the basic format of our core engineering-themed programs based on the world of Minecraft. Students will explore real-world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture while building their favorite Minecraft objects.
Inner Space Cavern - Year-round
Hidden for over 10,000 years, Inner Space Cavern is one of the best preserved caves in Texas.
Blue Hole - Year-round
Blue Hole Park is a scenic lagoon bordered by limestone bluffs along the South Fork of the San Gabriel River. It is located five blocks north of the downtown Square along N. Austin Avenue. The park features picnic areas, restrooms, and wading areas.
Teen Movie Night - May 5
The first Friday of each month is Teen Movie Night at the Georgetown Recreation Center. You are invited to stop by for popcorn, snacks, games and a PG-13 movie!
Daddy-Daughter Dance - June 23
For daughters ages 4 years and older and their dads, granddads, uncles or older brothers are also acceptable escorts. All children get a bandanna!
The Williamson County Museum - Year-round
The Williamson Museum offers a variety of ways for you to engage and interact with the past. The Old Town Street Festival - May 19
The Old Town Street Festival, one of Central Texas’ newest events is a festival held each spring in downtown Leander’s charming Old Town District. The street fills with local and national artisans offering handcrafted creations. Musical acts and family-friendly activities delight both adults and children. Food and beverage vendors provide both healthy and indulgent choices, often supported by and benefiting charitable partners.
SCORE Workshop: Sales Forecasting & Cash Flow - June 1
In this workshop, you will learn the basics of how to forecast expenses and income. The presentation will discuss start up, fixed and variable expenses. Time will also be spent on how to do a cash flow statement and how important cash is to your business. You will also learn the differences between an income statement, a balance sheet, and a cash flow statement.
Summer Camps - June 12 - 30

Keep Calm & Color on - First Wednesday of Every Month
Turns out, coloring is therapeutic for adults, so drop by the library on the first Wednesday evening of the month from 6:30 and 8:30 to Keep Calm & Color On. Enjoy a relaxing cup of tea and color your stress away.

Scratch Coders Club - May 9
Tweens, ages 8-12, are welcome to drop in to our coding club and explore Scratch in a casual setting. Join us on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 from 6:30 – 7:15 pm to design original games and stories with your friends. Or, you may bring your own project to share or troubleshoot. Laptops provided to the first 11 children.
Water Wise Landscape Series - May 3
Native and Adaptive plants are not only beautiful water efficient additions to your landscape, but they can be useful tools to attract beneficial wildlife as well. Learn ways to attract and provide urban habitat for butterflies, song birds, hummingbirds, bees, and other animals that bring your landscape to life with activity!
