Austin-based RVI adds vision of creating “resounding sense of place” to Rancho Sienna

The master plan for Rancho Sienna envisions 100 acres of parks and trails, and most of these amenities are already completed and enjoyed by residents on a daily basis.

To turn this plan into reality, Newland has been proud to partner with Austin-based RVi, the award-winning company behind many landmark projects throughout the United States, including Colorado River Park and Mueller in Austin.

RVi’s corporate profile describes the vision they have helped to bring to Rancho Sienna:

In over three decades of practice, RVi has remained focused on creating beautiful, functional, and enduring spaces that people know and love.

At RVi, we approach each project with a goal of creating a resounding sense of place. We begin with a well-articulated project vision and an understanding of the intrinsic environmental qualities of the land.

“RVi’s planning philosophy epitomizes the understanding of a community. It’s not just about building houses, not just about building lots. It’s about community and the people who are going to live there. Quality doesn’t mean expensive. It means well done,” said Ted Nelson, Central Region President for Newland.

One of RVi’s latest collaborations with Newland is the Rancho Sienna Dog Park, opened in late 2016.

“The dog park is the newest component of a large, thoughtfully designed outdoor experience at Rancho Sienna, which emphasizes a relaxed and nature-focused Hill Country lifestyle,” according to Peter Dufrene, project director at RVi. “In keeping with the community’s focus on sustainability, the plantings for the dog park were selected for their drought tolerant nature, with a strong emphasis on wildflower mixes that do not require irrigation. The design team also worked to reuse materials found on site, such as cedar and stone, and incorporated excess materials from a nearby drainage project to create the dog tunnels on the agility course.”

From the Dog Park to Big View Trail, and from Sienna Trail Park to the Outdoor Dining Room, Rancho Sienna residents can see – and enjoy – RVi’s beautiful and thoughtful work throughout the community!
