Rancho Sienna partners with Families in Nature
Rancho Sienna has partnered with Austin-based Families in Nature (FiN) to develop programs and activities that will help residents spend more time exploring the 100+ acres of parks and trails in the community, as well as enjoying natural treasures in the surrounding Hill Country and throughout the Austin area.
Activities such as archery lessons, fairy gnome house making, stargazing, bird and tree walks, and fishing demos, are among the programs that could be offered beginning this spring at Rancho Sienna.
FiN is now in its 8th year as an outdoor education program serving families with children from 4 months to 17 years old. FiN activities are aimed at teaching children and their parents about ecology and conservation through hands-on experiences in nature, while they spend quality family time together.
FiN’s mission statement includes: “We strive to create confident, capable, independent, curious, engaged, interested and connected children and families. The physical and mental health benefits, as well as the educational benefits of time spent in nature, are well documented. Our goal is to educate children and their families about the world around them and to create environmentally literate students.”
