Georgetown’s Red Poppy Festival coming up April 27-29
Rancho Sienna is proud to located in Georgetown, which celebrates many festive events throughout the year. One of the biggest is the annual Red Poppy Festival, a free family-friendly event taking place April 27-29.
One of the many highlights is the Saturday morning parade, featuring high school marching bands, color guards, princesses, clowns, floats and much more, with everyone and everything decorated in festive red.
There’s also a Kids Fun Zone, a classic car and truck show, a 5k run, a bike ride, more than 120 artisans showing and selling their creations, and much more. There’ll also be three event stages, with live music and other entertainment.
You can also enjoy self-guided tours of Georgetown’s famous red poppies, a tradition that dates back to World War I, when a young local soldier sent home poppy seeds from Flanders Fields in Belgium. Though these flowers no longer grow in the wild, many Georgetown residents and businesses lovingly cultivate these striking flowers year after year.
