Meet the residents: The Devores were surprised by “how quickly Rancho Sienna felt like home"

Meet Lauren Devore, who recently moved to Rancho Sienna with her husband, George, to be closer to family in the Hill Country.

Q.How did you come to live at Rancho Sienna?
A. I’m originally from Houston, and George and I always wanted to move to the Hill Country once we became empty nesters. We love the nature, and we wanted to be closer to family on Inks Lake.

Q. What are your favorite things about the community?
A.  Everyone we’ve met so far has been very welcoming and gracious. We love the rolling hills and nature trails, and we’ve enjoyed the pool and fitness center at Sienna House as well.

Q. Tell us about your family.
A. We have three grown children. George Jr. is serving in Iraq with the Army. Katie lives in Houston, and Maddie lives in Austin.

Q. Are you both still working?
A. George is working as a part-time dentist for a state correctional facility in San Saba. I used to work as a registered dietitian and as a teacher for dyslexic children. I’m currently starting my own business, Go Go Gofers, to offer errand-running and personal assistant services.

Q. What would you tell someone considering a move to Rancho Sienna?
A. It is a very nice community to live in. The people are friendly and the views of the Hill Country are beautiful.

Q. What’s your favorite local place to go out on a date?
A. Gumbo’s on the Georgetown downtown square.

Q. What has surprised you most about living at Rancho Sienna?
A. How quickly it felt like home!

Q. Can you share something that very few people know about you?
A.  I was adopted as a child, so I never knew my nationality until I recently did genetic testing, which revealed that I’m 63% English/Irish. I’ve never felt Irish, unlike George, who attended Notre Dame!
