Friends of Rancho Sienna: Meet the Traina Family

For the latest in our occasional series of profiles of Rancho Sienna residents, we visited with Phil Traina, to see how he and his family like living here after moving from quite far away, from California’s Silicon Valley.

Q: Where are you from originally?
A: From the Bay Area of Northern California, also known as Silicon Valley.

Q: How did you come to live at Rancho Sienna?
A: We came to Rancho Sienna because of my in-laws. Kendra’s parents retired here, and coincidently they picked a neighborhood that had much of what we were looking for. The kids love living a few blocks from their grandparents.

Q: What are your favorite things about the community?
A: Rancho Sienna Elementary School was a huge draw and added bonus, but people are what make this community great. Getting to know the neighbors at the community events and socials has been perfect for our family. We have built some really strong friendships pretty quickly.

Q: Tell us about your family.
A: Kendra and I have been together since we were teenagers. Our daughter, Daphne, is 8 and in the third grade. Our son, Philip, is 3 and starting preschool. They keep our life on the go with sports and dance. Kendra’s focus is on our family, while she still works part time in California. I have been helping people achieve their goals through real estate for over 16 years. I am a licensed agent in both Texas and California. I’m always excited to talk about real estate with buyers and sellers, celebrate life’s milestones, and watch out for each other.

Q: What would you tell someone considering a move to Rancho Sienna?
A: Being in real estate, I’ve moved several families into and around Rancho Sienna. This really is one of the best neighborhoods in the area. The parks, community center and trails are great.

Q: Favorite local place to go out on a date?
A: To be honest, there are so many great new places opening up everyday, it’s hard to pick just one. That being said, we have gone out to Lupe Tortilla quite a bit. The food never disappoints.

Q: What surprised you about living here?
A: The most surprising thing about living here is how people are always willing to help. People are coming from all over the country and don’t know anyone, and it’s always nice to have someone lend a helping hand.

Q: Can you share something very few people know about you?
A: Music plays a big role in our family. I play guitar, write and sing. Both kids love music as well. Many of my clients are musicians, so we spend quite a bit of time going to concerts.
