Liberty Hill Hot Air Balloon Festival lifts off Oct. 19
As Liberty Hill’s first-ever hot air balloon celebration, this all-day event is more like two festivals in one, so choose your favorite part to enjoy, or come to both.
The fun starts at 7 a.m. at Lions Foundation Park, with a sunrise hot air balloon launch and 5K fun run. The morning part of the festival continues until 1 p.m. with live sculpting demos, hands-on art activities, synchronized paramotor demos, live music, a kid’s fun zone, and food. For $25, you can enjoy a tethered balloon ride.
There’s also the chance to win a freestyle hot air balloon ride by purchasing a raffle ticket. Two raffle winners will be drawn, and each winning ticket is good for two passengers. The balloon rides will last between 30 minutes and one hour, and will travel where the wind takes them. Crews will follow the balloon and drive passengers back to Lions Foundation Park.
Self-guided tours of the Liberty Hill International Sculpture Garden will take place all morning, offering insight into the town’s most unique cultural attraction. In 1976, in honor of the nation's Bicentennial, 20 internationally recognized sculptors traveled to Liberty Hill, creating 26 massive works that still amaze visitors today.
The first 100 people to complete a tour of the sculpture garden will receive a free wristband for the Hot Air Balloon Glow and Street Dance when the festival continues in the evening.
Come back in the evening from 7-10 p.m. for a street dance featuring live music by People’s Choice, a silent disco with high-energy DJs, and a hot air balloon glow. There’ll also be food trucks, vendors and tethered balloon rides in the evening event.
We don’t have any hot air balloon rides over Rancho Sienna right now, but you can see our community from the sky with our virtual flyover tour.
